Your Name Email Comments Verification. This was our second time to this stadium, having been here a year earlier for the same game GC Suns Great ground to watch the Great concert but soooooooo disorganised huge queues to get in but worse to get out not organised at all and we missed half the concert while the police were trying to get the people who bought the cheap seats thought they had the right to stand in front of the people who bought the expensive seats it was ridiculous and they should review how it was run before the next event.
The concert was excellent, and while the seats were a bit uncomfortable, they were what we had expected at this type of venue. However, as visitors to the Gold Coast and first-timers at Metricon, we ran into issues with a lack of clear signage and, sadly, some very unhelpful staff at the end of the night.
We followed the signs to our allocated gate, only to find when we got to the end of the path that our gate wasn't there at all. In fact, it turns out it was on the opposite side of the stadium.
At least the staff member we asked was able to point out the right spot, but it took several attempts to get her attention. At the end of the night, we needed to get the bus to Broadbeach, but couldn't find where the bus stops for that destination were. We asked several staff, who either shrugged or grunted that they didn't know.
After 45 minutes, we gave up on the buses and tried to find the taxi rank. Again, no luck with decent signage and staff who gave us very poor directions. I'm sure if you regularly attended the footy at the stadium, you'd know exactly where to go to find your seat or get the bus, but as visitors the lack of knowledge from the staff and the confusing or missing signage put a damper on the end of our rather expensive concert experience.
The free bus system was amazing we must have just timed it right! Caught bus from Bowaggan Rd. Waited about 5 mins for bus at about 7pm. Left stadium straight after last song. Had quite a walk to bus stop 16, but only had about 15 min wait, friend picked us up and I was at home in Burleigh by 11pm.
Well organised. The concert was great. The major let down was the public transport. We ended up walking down to Royal Pines to get a taxi as we were only staying 10minutes away. After a disastrous time trying to book taxi,Ubers, and Ola. I stood on the highway and flagged down a cab who took us back to the hotel. I couldn't fault Queen and Adam Lambert. Firstly it said on their website that the parking would be at Emmanuel College, off Birmingham Road from 5pm.
We rocked up just after 5pm on Birmingham Road and couldn't see any signage or organisers.
We parked in the front carpark and waited with quite a few people, when a guy pulled up and put a 'No Parking Sign' up on the car park entrance. He disappeared, and then the school's Property Manager turned up So heres a whole bunch of people in wheelchairs and the like having to move their cars to the other side of the school. When we got there, we got one of the last 3 car parks in the designated area. The line up was at least 8 wheelchairs and their entourages, totalling about people - waiting for 3 Transcord vans, each with the capacity for one wheelchair and 8 people.
After seeing this, and waiting 15 mins - quite a few people ended up making their own way across to the stadium including electric and manual wheelchairs.
Why not use 6 low-floor buses?! We got to the stadium, waited in the usual queues to get through security and to get food, beverages etc. The contour of the field had us looking in a straight line about 2m above Roger Taylor. We dreaded what was going to happen when the show started Once the screens were in use, it was a battle to see between people.
A fellow patron and I ended up resorting to chasing people away from the wheelchair area so our seated companions could see something.Carrara Stadium known commercially as Metricon Stadium is a sporting venue on the Gold Coast in QueenslandAustralialocated in the suburb of Carrara.
